Kenya Kirura AB Washed

Kenya Kirura AB Washed
Kirura Farmers Cooperative Society counts 800 small producers as its members. Historically, the co-op was an integral part of the larger, more well known Komothai Farmers Cooperative Society, comprising thirteen separate co-ops.
US importer Crop to Cup managed to bring in only 10 bags of this AB-sized lot. We’re glad to be able to source a little bit from this already tiny shipment.
Coming from the slightly lower elevation Kiambu region (vs the prized high elevation Nyeri), this coffee surprises us a bit. Where the nose can feel slightly muted, the palate hits you with a complex mélange of red and green fruit impressions (cherry, pomegranate, grapefruit, green apple, kiwi). Classic washed Kenyan profile that really leans tart and floral instead of savory and tomato-y.
