India Amruthavarshini Robusta Honey

India Amruthavarshini Robusta Honey
After founding a boarding school in the coffee-growing region Chikmagalur, former banker Poornima Jairaj purchased the Amruthavarshini Farm in 2004. She’s then been running the estate with her daughter Tanya.
Like many producers in the area, Poornima grows both arabica and robusta (canephora), with arabica making up 70% of her production. Growing at around 1100 MASL, her coffee plants are frequently interspersed with fruit and native trees.
With the help of coffee quality expert Sunalini Menon, the quality in Amruthavarshini’s lots are quickly evident. What stands out in both her arabica and robusta lots are their cleanness and articulation.
Introduced from Sri Lanka, Perdenia is one of the earliest robusta seeds released by the Indian Coffee Research Station in the 1940s. While the classic nutty impressions are present, they are far from overtaking the palate. In fact, the cup itself shows a a soft nutty impression and surprising pleasant dried fruit notes. Redolent of toasted almond and dried nectarine.
